Skip The Hotel Room Service Pizza And Order In — Here's Why

Posted on: 30 May 2018

When you're visiting a hotel for a vacation or a business trip, it's common that you'll get to your room in the evening and want something to eat. An obvious choice might be to peruse the room service menu and order something. If you're craving a pizza, however, you're better off looking for a local restaurant that offers delivery and ordering something to the hotel. If you're in a city where there are lots of pizza restaurants, you'll have fun browsing their online menus to find something that you'd like — and a delivery person will be handing it to you before too long. Here are some reasons that this is a better idea than ordering room service.

The Quality Will Be Better

Although there are some hotels that have high-end restaurants on site that produce good room service meals, this isn't always the case. You'll often find pizza on hotel room service menus, but it's commonly of the frozen variety and simply heated up before being served to you. This won't be the case when you order from a pizza restaurant. Even the bigger pizza chains make their pizzas fresh, so you're going to get something that tastes far superior to what you'd get from the hotel, in most cases.

You'll Probably Save Money

Even at moderately priced hotels, room service can be expensive. Menu items are often priced higher than you'd spend for comparable food at local restaurants. If you're looking to save money, you may find that you'll do so by ordering from a local pizza restaurant. Browse some online menus and compare them to the room service menu in your hotel room — commonly, you'll find that the cost of a pizza from an area restaurant is less. In many cases, the pizzas are bigger, too, giving you more value for your money.

There's More Variety

Unless you're staying at a hotel that has an extensive room service menu, it's common to find the pizza selections somewhat limited. For example, there might be a cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and a vegetarian pizza. Of course, this won't be the case when you check out the online menu from a local pizza restaurant. You'll have far more choices when you pursue an outside source, especially if you're open to considering a few different pizza restaurants in the area. Given these factors, you should always put down the room service menu and find a better way to get pizza.

Remembering Your Love for Restaurants and Travel

During my years as a travel attendant, I stayed in hundreds of hotels and ate at thousands of restaurants. Unfortunately, after awhile, the glamour of travel wore off, and I started having a hard time enjoying the experience. Restaurants seemed expensive and stressful, and I needed to learn how to love the lifestyle again. Fortunately, one day I came across a travel blog that helped me to remember why visiting new places is so much fun. I made this blog for fellow restaurant lovers, so that you can remember why eating out can be exciting. By ordering properly and knowing how to communicate with waiters, you can enjoy a meal no matter where you are.
